Why Mental Health UK?

1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime, and with the restrictions the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on people’s lives, these numbers are continuing to rise.

Mental Health UK brings together over 40 years of expertise from four national mental health charities to provide advice, information and support. Through support groups, advice services and simple information about mental health and illness, Mental Health UK have helped support 5.4 million people, start over 6,000 conversations about mental health in the workplace, and have raised £3.5m to help those affected by mental health problems.

How your support helps

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mental Health UK’s peer support groups stopped meeting face to face to quickly expand their online peer support platform, Clic. The service allows their support groups to set up virtual meetings with anyone in the UK who is struggling with their mental health and not finding the support they need.

Unlike other platforms, Clic is a 24/7 moderated site and is led by volunteers who welcome new members, make them feel supported, and encourage discussions - while making sure that any concerning language or behaviour is flagged to colleagues who safeguard the site. Mental Health UK ensures the site remains safe and secure, only intervening if a member is displaying signs of distress.

All funds raised during Move for Charity will support Mental Health UK and their support platform, Clic.

How can your donation make an impact?

£20

A donation of just £20 could help Mental Health UK recruit three volunteers to help moderate their online peer support platform, Clic, so members feel welcomed, listened to and supported throughout their sessions.

£1500

A fundraising total of £1,500 would be enough for Mental Health UK to host two live Q&A sessions where members receive advice directly from experts on their mental health, lifestyle, and wellbeing.

£20,000

£20,000 would help Mental Health UK moderate Clic’s online platform for three months, so mental health experts can ensure all members feel connected, safe, secure, and supported for longer.
