The Event
What is the Move for Charity virtual challenge?
In support of World Mental Health day (10 Oct 2020), ISG will be taking part in a five-day global move challenge from12-16 October 2020.
Run, walk, cycle or swim; the aim of the virtual challenge is to travel the longest distance possible across the globe to raise vital funds and awareness for our UK charity partner, Mental Health UK.
Who is Mental Health UK?
Mental Health UK supports people affected by mental health problems. Working across the UK, they bring together experts from four national mental health charities to improve understanding and provide vital care. To find out more please visit https://mentalhealth-uk.org/
How does the challenge work?
Step 1
Sign up!
Whether you’re looking to tackle a big cycle or run, or simply just want to get yourself moving, all you need to sign up is a £20 donation.
Your registration includes a technical eco t-shirt, which will be mailed to you.
Step 2
Choose how you move and start fundraising
You will need to set up a JustGiving page to track your miles.
If you’d like to raise even more funds for Mental Health UK, share your JustGiving page with friends, family, and your colleagues who can sponsor you, keep track of your progress and help you reach your goal.
NB: We encourage additional fundraising; however, your £20 donation covers your entry and you do not need to raise further funds.
Step 3
Start moving
To help track your activities and distance, download the Strava app on your smartphone or connect Strava to your fitness watch to automatically log your activities. Or you can manually enter your miles.
Connect Strava to your JustGiving fundraising page to ensure your activity is tracked.
When is the event?
You can take part over the week from 12-16 October 2020.
Do I need to do this on a specific day?
No, the challenge takes place between Monday 12 to Friday 16 October 2020 and you are able to join at any point during this time.
Do I have to be really fit to take part?
No, you can choose to ‘move’ at your own pace and preferred style of exercise, be it walking, running, cycling or swimming.
What is Strava and how do I use it?
Strava is a training app which tracks and records your distance. JustGiving is partnered with Strava which means you can link your JustGiving fundraising page to Strava and your page will be automatically updated every time you complete an activity.
How do I log my miles?
You can log your miles on your JustGiving fundraising page through the popular fitness app Strava (its free!). This includes fitness watches and cycling GPS trackers like Fitbit, TomTom, Soleus and Garmin. On your JustGiving fundraising page click ‘Edit page’, click ‘Fitness’, click ‘Connect to Strava’.
To find out how to link Strava to your fundraising page, you can also view the JustGiving help article here.
Or if you don't use fitness devices and apps, don't worry, you can log your miles manually on your JustGiving fundraising page!

Fundraising
What is JustGiving?
JustGiving is the platform that's the home of our Move for Charity website and fundraising pages. Any donations received will go directly to Mental Health UK.
Do I have to set-up a JustGiving page?
We encourage additional fundraising; however, your £20 donation covers your entry and you do not need to raise further funds. You will need to set up a JustGiving page to track your miles.
Can I take part in a team?
Yes! Once you’ve signed up to Move for Charity and have created your JustGiving fundraising page, you have the option to either create a team or join an existing team. Remember, you must sign up as an individual before creating or joining a team.
When setting up a team, you’re automatically made the Team Leader, which means you can invite people to join. This allows you, your friends and colleagues to join your individual fundraising pages together so your fundraising contributes to a larger team goal.
For more information on creating team pages and joining them, why not check out JustGiving's team FAQs?
Do I have to fundraise if I enter?
There is no obligation to fundraise. However, we do encourage additional fundraising and we really appreciate anything you are able to raise. You will need to set up a JustGiving page to track your miles.
How do I pay my funds raised to Mental Health UK?
JustGiving automatically transfers your fundraising to Mental Health UK
